CLONASLEE TIDY TOWNS ORGANISATION
In 1958 Tidy Towns Competition began. In 1973 Clonaslee entered. But it was 1983 when we finally got our act together and Clonaslee has been in every yearly Tidy Towns Competition since.P.D.Brickley and Donal Sweeney were behind our initial foray.
Ed Dunne was chairperson in the mid-late 80’s.In 1983 Clonaslee received 82 points, just 6 years later we had progressed to 143 points.Under Ed Dunne the Committee spruced up the village, landscaping our greens and creating the riverwalk at Brittas road.Brid Malone took Clonaslee even higher,to a record 217 points in 1996,a massive jump of 58 points. It remains the largest point increase in our 22 year history.
By 2000 we were getting noticed in the County. In 2001 we went to 3rd place in the county under John Molloy.By 2004 we had reached 250 points and with Declan Good leading us,we are aiming for top position in Laois.
