CLONASLEE SPORTING HEROES
James Young was on the winning Leinster side that beat Connaught in the Railway Cup, in Galway on October 28th 2006.
Darren Rooney was part of the winning Leinster Football Team that won in Boston on October 15th 2006.
James Young has been nominated for an All Star Hurling Award.
The awards will be announced later this year.
The last Laois All Star Hurling award went to Pat Critchley in 1984.
The last Clonaslee man to receive an All Star Award was Philip Dillon.
TINNAHINCH UNDER-14’S DO THE DOUBLE!
On Sat, Oct 7th 2006. Tinnahinch under-14 Hurlers won the Laois County Championship in Abbeyleix, when they beat Rathdowney-Errill 1-11 to 1-7.
Exactly a week later the Under-14 Footballers won the Laois B Championship, when they beat The Rock 6-7 to 0-2 in Portarlington.
Well Done to all.
GARRETT CULLITON WINS BRONZE MEDAL
Local athlete, Garrett Culliton won the bronze medal in F52 discus in Assen, Holland last Tuesday, Sept. 5th 2006. at the Paralympic World Athletics Championships, with his throw of 16.18 metres
Born in Rearymore, Garrett lives in Dublin now and is the Sports Disability Officer for Laois Sports Partnerships.
Garrett has done well in previous Paralympics and no doubt will be looking forward to the Paralympic Games to be held in Beijing in 2008.
Garrett is a member and player with the only wheelchair rugby team in Ireland, the gaelic warriors. Congrats Garrett “ Big Man” Cilliton.

The 2005-2006 Division 1 League Champions are Clonaslee United A Team. They beat Rosenallis 4-3 on Sunday 14th May, with goals from Pa Hogan, Dave McElroy, Michael McEvoy and Trevor Snell.

Our own James Young was honored on Sat night, March 4 2006, in the Heritage, Portlaoise.
James is well known for his Hurling abilities throughout Ireland.

Clonaslee United A played St John Vianney of Dublin last Sunday, Feb 4th.in the Leinster Junior Cup After extra time both teams were level with 2-2. Scoring for Clonaslee were Trevor Snell and T.Tynan.
Clonaslee won out 4-3 on penalties.

The Presentation of Awards for the 2004/2005 season took place in Fallons, last night, Sept 2nd,2005.
Awards are as follows:

B Team - Player of the Year - Sean "Scillaci" Corcoran [striker]

Also last night the A Team received the Foy Cup Winners Medals, and the B Team picked up the League Cup Winners Medals.
The Club congratulates Aine Gorman on her International Trials.

HISTORY
Clonaslee United, formed in 1989 currently fields 2 senior teams "A and B" as well as an under 17 Girls team.
Clonaslee United A and B are in the OWL Football League with the A team League champions last season.The B team won the OWL Barrow Lodge Foy Cup Final last season.But it is the girls who are more succesfull,playing in the Midlands School Boys/Girls League they have won 3 League and Cup Doubles,1 League and 2 Cups in just 6 years

Tinnahinch Hurlers beat Camross in Senior hurling Semi-final.
Sunday, October 1st 2006 at O Moore Park, Portlaoise. Tinnahinch took on Camross in the Laois S.H Semi-Final
And won 2-12 to 1-12.
Scoring for Tinnahinch were James Young 1-7, Ritchie McEvoy 1-0, with Mark Rooney, John Rowney, Joe Conroy, Joe Dooley and Declan Conroy on 1 point each
TINNAHINCH BEAT PORTLAOISE IN LAOIS QUARTER FINAL
Sunday 17th September 2006.
In the Quarter Final of the Laois Senior Hurling Championship, Tinnahinch beat Portlaoise 3-12 to 2-11 at O Moore Park.
Tinnahinch will play Camross in the semi-final in 2 weeks time.
Outstanding players were D.Rooney, J.Young, G.McEvoy, D.Conroy, T.Tynan.

Friday May 5th 2006.
Clonaslee-St Manmans Senior Football Team opened their 2006 Championship Season with a 1-7 to 0-9 win over Ballyroan Gaels in Portlaoise.
This is the first time since 1998 that a Clonaslee Team have won their opening game.
The decisive move was made when James Young [ the noted Laois hurler ] was moved from defense to forward and he scored 1-2. Another pivotal player was Martin Fallon who saved a penalty.
In this first stage of the Laois Football Championship, Clonaslee-St Manmans are in a play-off group of 4, the other competing teams are Ballyroan Gaels, Crettyard, and last years semi-finalists Emo.
The top 2 teams go forward to the next round.
The Clonaslee – St Manmans team were;
M.Fallon, S.Conroy, E.Fitzgerald, W.Murray, R.Conroy, J.Young. G.McEvoy, D.Rooney, C.Dunne, E.Gorman, C.Gorman, D.Larkin, M.McEvoy, D.Hogan, B.Dunne.
Of these James Young, Mark Rooney, Darren Rooney and Rory Conroy are on the laois County Hurling Panel, while G.McEvoy is on the Under 21 Hurling panel and Conor Gorman is on Under 21 Football panel., Mark Rooney plays for Laois Senior Footballers.
TINNAHINCH UNDER-14’s have qualified for the “Feile National Finals” to be held in Cork, 19th – 21st June 2006.
Clonaslee / St Manmans GAA Club, AGM.
The Club held their AGM on Friday, 13th Jan 2006.
Kevin Flynn was elected as new chairman, replacing Tommy Smith.
Sean Conroy is vice-chair, Pat Carroll is secretary and Pat McRedmond continues as treasurer.
The Club expect to begin their 2006 season in March / April.

Clonaslee is the oldest GAA club in Laois,we have fielded teams in both hurling and football in the county championships since 1884.We hope to present a more detailed history of our GAA Club soon.

CLONASLEE LADIES BASKETBALL CLUB
Formed 3 years ago [2001] the Club competes in the”Midlands Ladies League” Division 1,which has 11 teams playing in 2004. Basketball season begins in October and runs to April.
The Clonaslee Ladies have done very well in just 2 seasons,they won the League and the Championship in their very first year as a club!
Last year they were 2nd in the League and just lost to Mullingar in the Final.
The Club trains in the Community Centre with their Home Games being played there on Wednesday nights,8.15pm.
For the Clubs fixtures and results: watch this space.
CLONASLEE BADMINTON CLUB
The Club has 3 teams in the Badminton League;Under 13's,Under 15's and Under 18's.The Club has practice sessions twice a week,on Wednesdays from 4.30 pm to 6 pm.and on Fridays from 6 pm to 7 pm.Anyone interested in joining the Club should contact Eugene Doolan 0502 48122.
Clonaslee St Manmans Juvenile GAA Club
Indoor GAA in the Community Centre as follows; for 8-12 year olds on Tuesday's 6 pm to 8 pm.
Under 14's practise on Tuesdays 9 pm to 10 pm.
Under 8's practice on Saturday mornings 10 am to 11 am.

The Club has 3 teams in the Badminton League;Under 13's,Under 15's and Under 18's.The Club has practice sessions twice a week,on Wednesdays from 4.30 pm to 6 pm.and on Fridays from 6 pm to 7 pm.Anyone interested in joining the Club should contact Eugene Doolan 0502 48122.
Clonaslee St Manmans Juvenile GAA Club
Indoor GAA in the Community Centre as follows; for 8-12 year olds on Tuesday's 6 pm to 8 pm.
Under 14's practise on Tuesdays 9 pm to 10 pm.
Under 8's practice on Saturday mornings 10 am to 11 am.
